Hyundai declares, without naming it however in pictures, the energetic N variant of the Kona SUV.
Circumspectly, on Christmas Eve, Hyundai’s Kona N sports branch affirmed on Instagram the forthcoming appearance of a solid rendition of the little Kona SUV, without naming it. Showing partial images of what looks very much like a camouflaged Kona with a driver’s helmet on the hood, it did indeed indicate that a new N model was on the way.
Nothing was revealed about the characteristics of the long-awaited Hyundai Kona N. This one could take over the 2L turbocharged four-cylinder that offers up to 275 hp at the i30 N. All-wheel drive and dual-clutch transmission could be on the agenda, potentially as an option.
The Kona N not for France?
No presentation or marketing date for the Kona N has yet been disclosed, but it is expected to be presented in the first half of 2021 with a view to commercial launch before the end of next year.
Alas, France may well be deprived of it. The country’s car tax system, which is very punitive for affordable cars, has forced the South Korean manufacturer to withdraw its sports models from our territory until further notice. And the hardening of the ecological malus recently confirmed for 2021, 2022 and 2023 leaves little hope for the return of the Hyundai N in France.
