After the Q2, Audi offers a slight retyping to the SQ2. On the menu for the small sports SUV: cosmetic but not mechanical touch-ups.
It was to be expected. A few weeks after touching up its Q2 (sharper headlights, redesigned bumpers, lowered grille …), Audi is doing the same for its SQ2. Two years after its launch, the small sports SUV is indeed going through a restyling process. As with the Q2, the changes are primarily aesthetic.
Slight powder coating for the SQ2
Up front, the model gains some character with a new light signature (standard LED headlights and Matrix LED headlights with optional Intelligent High Beam Control), a new polygonal grille pattern and a revised bumper.
The rear bumper, which now features a new diffuser, has also been redesigned. The same applies to the roof spoiler.
Few changes on board
Almost nothing to report on the other hand inside. Audi simply announces that the “door panels are made of a new material that is pleasant to the touch” and that the Alcantara in the upholstery is replaced by a microfiber fabric (Dinamica).
Still 300 hs on all four wheels
Under the hood, same story. The 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder petrol engine with 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque (between 2,000 and 5,300 rpm) is still available. The seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive are also still on board for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds, 0.1 seconds more than before, and a top speed of 250 km/h.
S sport suspension, progressive steering and the Audi drive select with its muktiple driving modes (“auto”, “comfort”, “dynamic”, “efficiency” and “individual”) are standard here, as are automatic climate control, sport seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
What price in USA?
Finally, the brand announces the arrival of new connected services: Audi connect emergency call & service and Audi connect remote & control. The latter will enable owners to lock the vehicle or check the fuel level remotely, for example.
Produced at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt, the restyled SQ2 is available from $41,700 . Its price for the French market has not yet been announced. The first deliveries are expected at the beginning of 2021.
